Electrical Switchgear & Controls Specialists

History

The Company was founded in 1971 by Alan Lambert in a small factory unit located in St. Albans, Hertfordshire.

Alan Lambert had gained his experience in the industry as an apprentice working at the Electrical Apparatus Company (EAC) and finally as an electrical engineer / draughtsman with the same organisation before spending two years working for the EAC in its South African subsidiary.

Upon his return to the UK he worked for Switchboards Limited, a subsidiary of the EAC. He ultimately moved to a local panel builder as a Sales Manager before founding Alan Electrical Limited in 1971.

Alan Electrical Limited was originally staffed by ex-employees from the EAC who were a large manufacturer of switchgear and motor control. The EAC was taken over by Allen West Limited and part of the EAC business moved from St. Albans to Brighton. This left a number of EAC employees seeking new employment opportunities.

Alan Electrical Limited has moved to larger premises within the St. Albans area on a number of occasions, finally acquiring two premises at the Caxton Centre in 1987. A further three premises were acquired on the same estate as the business continued to expand.

Following Alan Electrical Limited’s policy of continuous expansion, it has over the years widened its product range to include complete MV / LV packages together with energy management / monitoring systems.
